How high is the wind rating on these shades?
Our heavy-duty Texton shades are engineered with a secure zip-track system built to handle high winds up to 45 mph when fully rolled down. For maximum protection, we recommend adding an automatic wind sensor. While the Texton shades are rated for much higher winds, we typically program the sensor to safely retract the system at 20 mph to protect your investment before severe storms or violent gale winds arrive.
Can we use the shades as a bug screen?
Absolutely! Thanks to our zip-track design, the edges of the mesh are completely locked into the side tracks. There are zero gaps, creating a tight, impenetrable seal that keeps out mosquitoes, flies, and pests so you can enjoy your patio completely bug-free.
What is the warranty on your products?
Your shades are protected with a limited lifetime warranty. The first year is covered 100% by The Window Fashion Store. Following years are covered by the manufacturer warranty for parts and remakes related to material or manufacturer issues. There will be a service fee if we come out to troubleshoot and repair shades after the first year.
How much sun and glare do they keep out?
Depending on the custom mesh fabric you select during your consultation, our shades block anywhere from 85% to 99% of intense heat and blinding UV glare. They keep your patio dramatically cooler without entirely cutting off your view of the beautiful backyard.
How do we clean our exterior shades?
Cleaning them is incredibly simple. Just roll them down and gently spray them with a standard garden hose. For any stubborn dust or pollen, a soft brush or micro-fiber cloth with mild, soapy water will do the trick. Just let them air-dry completely before rolling them back up!
Can I get a manual version instead of motorized?
We strongly recommend motorized due to the weight of the shades. Every client who has chosen a manual crank ended up calling us within a week requesting an upgrade to motorization - shades cannot be converted from manual to motorized once installed. Rolling them up and down by hand gets old incredibly fast, whereas motorization makes enjoying your outdoor space completely effortless at the touch of a button. Trust us on this one—you’ll want the motor!

What does the wind sensor do?
Think of the wind sensor as an automatic insurance policy for your patio. If a sudden Kansas City storm kicks up while you aren't looking, the sensor detects the high wind speeds and automatically rolls your shades up safely into their protective housing.
